GOD IS A VERB is an engaging and urgent portrait of a world - and a man - on the brink. In 1969, an eccentric professor gathers a team of offbeat academics to play a game with one goal: make the world work for all humanity. What unfolds tears spacetime as we are whisked from a beatnik cafe to a treetop congressional hearing and back by way of a university telephone. As the clock ticks, the lines blur between the game and the real world and we wonder if we've detached from reality altogether.
This year, in lieu of our annual Solstice Bash, we celebrated like it was 1969 and paid homage to this year's muse, R. Buckminster Fuller by throwing a fabulous Bucky Ball. Thank you to all who attended, learned the Dymaxion Slide, and enjoyed the live music, and partied Hook & Eye style with the help of DJ Collin Mannex and a little secret punch. This summer we continue the build on the new play, and we hope you'll join us for it's premiere in NOVEMBER. photos by Ken Paprocki

For three years, black clouds have blotted out the sun over Our America. A five-minute break in the clouds over a small town gives the whole nation hope… and compels a desperate government aided by a corporate conglomerate to sequester the town’s residents in a warehouse facility where they are made to recreate their actions at the cloudless moment . . .over and over. . . in the hopes of once again summoning the sun.
At once an impressionistic flip-book of modern small-town America, a story of one family strained to make huge decisions, and a stern reminder of the power of the natural world, The Summoners clicks and whirrs through the world of its characters hoping to find salvation in the tiniest detail.
The fourth in our series committed to showcasing and developing the work of new artists . . . Playwrights, Directors, Musicians, Designers Choreographers and Actors. Last year's PlayLabs were focused on playwrights, this year, we're up to something new. Stay tuned for details!
Hook & Eye Theater is taking a week this summer to pull together threads from our three PlayLabs, create some new material, and prepare a show for the fall. We are lucky to be holding our retreat out of the city in a lovely farm setting, and look forward to working with a new director - Sherri Kronfeld, playwright Gavin Broady, and several new actors this summer. Stay tuned for the product of our labors in the fall! MORE INFO HERE
